Donor Engagement Officer/Major Gifts Officer
The Community Food Bank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) is the state’s largest food bank. We provide food for 15 out of 21 New Jersey counties. Distributing over 90 million meals last year, maintaining pandemic service levels. Our mission is to fight hunger and poverty in New Jersey by assisting those in need and seeking long term solutions. Hunger exists in every community from the poorest to the most affluent.
Donor Engagement Officer/Major Gifts Officer is a front-line fundraiser who strives for an elevated level of donor satisfaction and engagement focused on the donor experience. This position engages with individual donors, family foundations and supports engagement with the board and affinity/advisory groups. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, dynamic, and talented individual with experience in fundraising or external sales.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Manage a portfolio of approximately 150+ individual major donors ($5K+) through cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation.
· Develop and implement plans for securing major gifts and deferred gifts from donors through estate planning, personalized solicitation strategies while meeting financial goals as well as multiyear financial projections for donor portfolio.
· Works with director and team to continue the growth of the major donor pipeline through prospect identification and cultivation.
· Develop and execute specific monthly and annual donor engagement activities and document all activities in Salesforce.
· Prepare strategic and personalized donor materials including emails/mailings and solicitations, following a Moves Management-based approach.
· Work with Donor Engagement team to inform outreach and engagement strategies for a select number of mid-level donors that may be part of the portfolio for cultivation purposes.
· Collaborate with all team members across Resource Development including Direct Response and Marketing, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Special Events and Volunteers to create high quality donor communications, collateral materials, and experiences.
Essential Skills and Experience:
· Minimum five (5) years of fundraising or external sales experience, with proven success in major gift fundraising, donor cultivation, and closing large gifts.
· Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to communicate effectively and think strategically, prioritize, and develop/meet deadlines.
· Comfort and experience in developing individualized donor cultivation plans.
· Computer fluency in MS Office 365, Salesforce (strongly preferred), web applications, and knowledgeable about the role of technology and electronic communication (campaigns) in fundraising. Knowledge of New Jersey philanthropy a plus.
· Understanding of the record-keeping and stewardship systems that support a successful donor relations program.
· Comfortable with working in a collaborative environment and as part of a team.
· Excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills that can aide in communicating the mission, vision, and values of CFBNJ as an organization.
· Ability and willingness to take part in events outside the workday schedule (e.g., fundraising events, donor visits, evenings, and weekends).
· Must have personal vehicle, valid driver’s license and be willing to travel, as necessary. This is a hybrid role based in Hillside NJ.
